VEOHRC to begin Community Outreach Service at VALS PrestonPosted on Wed 21 March 2012
The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission (VEOHRC) and the VALS have been working closely together over the past 6 months to strengthen our partnership and develop services to address how we, together, can best serve the Koori community.
One of the services we envisaged was community outreach. One of the aims of this service is to engage the community in education about who VEOHRC are and how they can assist in discrimination matters and human rights issues.
The VEOHRC will be also be happy to talk to you about your rights, how to make a complaint about discrimination, and how the Commission can help you.
Melanie Fraser, one of the Commission’s conciliators and VALS’ primary referral point for the Aboriginal community, will be visiting the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service’s new Preston office on Tuesday 17 April from 1pm–5pm.
This is the first in what will be a continuing series of outreach services that VALS and VEOHRC will be conducting together, so keep your eyes out for further sessions in metro Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Please share this through your networks and see the attached file for more details.
